Family Assistance Division
Helps Get Families Back to Self-Sufficiency

If you have been displaced or if your income cannot meet your family’s most basic needs, you know what it means to fear what the future holds.

Our Family Assistance Division staff embraces the mission of relieving those fears and putting families on the road to self-sufficiency. We determine eligibility for several supports that help families through tough economic times.

Our experts stay up to date on the latest policy changes and verification systems so they can help make Montgomery County a better place to live. Here is a brief look at some of those supports available through our offices.

Food Assistance – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are available to individuals and families who can prove economic need. The amount of monthly assistance will vary based on household size, income and other factors.

Cash Assistance – Families or assistance groups that include small children may be eligible for a time-limited income supplement. Depending upon the situation, recipients may be required to do a work activity in exchange for this benefit.

Medical Assistance – Basic Medicaid health care coverage is available to individuals and families whose income is at or below 138 percent of the poverty level. Other verifications beyond income will be needed. Our office also handles eligibility for Aged, Blind or Disabled MedicaidNursing Home Medicaid and Waiver coverage for those requiring in-home services. Medicaid recipients may also be eligible for Non-Emergency Transportation to get to and from doctors appointments and to pick up prescriptions.

Child Care Assistance -- Eligible families can receive Public-Funded Child Care at a star-rated child care center near home or work. Walk-ins are available to be seen on Wednesdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Job Center, 1111 S. Edwin Moses Blvd. in Dayton.

Adult Protective Services – We investigate suspected abuse, neglect, self-neglect and exploitation of people, primarily age 60 and over. Adult Protective Services strives to help people remain independent in their homes by preventing, reducing or remedying potentially dangerous conditions. Our Intake Line is (937) 225-4906, and it is always open to serve you.
