To help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus, Montgomery County is closing almost all public areas of The Job Center, located at 1111 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. in Dayton.
As of Monday, April 6, the following entrances will be closed to the public: the blue entrance labeled “Family Assistance,” the red entrance labeled “Job Services,” and the yellow entrance labeled “Specialized Services.”
There will be limited in-person public access for services through the green entrance on the west side of The Job Center labeled “Child Support.” These services will still be available through the green entrance:
- Bus passes will still be available to those who need Non-Emergency Transportation to Medicaid-approved appointments;
- Payments on overpaid benefits;
- Some of the most-used Family Assistance forms will be available; and
- Child support payments.
To protect everyone, social distancing orders will be enforced inside the green entrance.
Family Assistance customers will no longer have the ability to scan documents with the closure of the blue entrance. However, they will now be able to "self-attest" their verifications during this pandemic by calling 1-844-640-6446. Customers can also turn verifications in at the new drop box in front of the blue entrance.
Anyone who had a state hearing scheduled should call 1-866-635-3748 to reschedule it. Benefits will continue until the new hearing can take place. If customers had a hearing scheduled because they were denied benefits, it is important that they call 1-866-635-3748 as soon as possible.
If anyone needs help with Medicaid, food assistance, or temporary cash assistance, visit www.ssp.benefits.ohio.gov or call 1-844-640-6446.
The computers inside the red entrance will no longer be open to the public. The Workforce Development Department will still be working via phone and email to help those in search of jobs during this crisis.
For those who have lost work because of COVID-19, the application for unemployment is at unemployment.ohio.gov, or you can apply by phone at 1-877-644-6562. TTY service for unemployment is available at 1-614-387-8408.
Anyone who is looking for work can contact 1-937-225-5627. There is also a form at www.thejobcenter.org to contact the Workforce Development Department. Click the “Contact Us” button on the home page to access that form. Workforce Specialists are working remotely to connect people with job openings.
