Dayton Regional Green, DP&L, Vectren, Energy Optimizers and IGS Energy recognized local businesses, schools and organizations from Montgomery and surrounding Counties for their environmental commitment. 199 locations signed on to the year–long Bring Your Green 2.0 Challenge. 98 locations have obtained their Green Business Certification since April 25, 2016.
Speakers attending the event highlighted the different ways they approach sustainability to create a better world now and in the future.
“Montgomery County’s commitment to sustainability is unwavering and the ‘Bring Your Green Challenge 2.0’ is a continuum of our efforts collaborating with area partners to make our region greener and healthier,” said Montgomery County Commission President Dan Foley. “We are very excited to launch the ‘Healthy Schools’ platform through Bring Your Green 2.0 to spur healthy competition among schools, and raise environmental standards on campus.”
“Dayton Power and Light is committed to helping our customers save energy and supporting the Dayton region’s sustainability efforts through the Bring Your Green Challenge,” said Tom Raga, President and CEO, DP&L. “We value the participation of area businesses and schools as they implement environmentally-friendly practices. We look forward to sharing our energy expertise so they enjoy the benefits for years to come.”
"Vectren is proud to support the “Bring Your Green Challenge” and promote energy efficiencies and sustainability in the Dayton region,” said Colleen Ryan, President, Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio. “Environmental stewardship is a basic value for each one of us at Vectren, and our support of this project affirms that.
