We have been informed by DP&L that the work to relocate poles and electric lines will continue into next week. Their work next week will begin on Tuesday, July 23 and last through Friday, July 26. Both lanes of Mad River Road will be open to traffic Saturday the 20th through Monday the 22nd. The detour of the southbound lane of Mad River Road between Munger Road and Alex Bell Road will resume on Tuesday the 23rd through Friday the 26th.
The project to reconstruct the bridge over Holes Creek on Mad River Road is about to begin. Mad River Road will be closed to traffic between Alex Bell Road and Munger Road. Road closure is tentatively set to begin in early August and will last for approximately 90 days. For northbound traffic on Mad River Road, the detour route is Munger Road to Alex Bell Road back to Mad River Road. For southbound traffic, the detour route is Alex Bell Road to McEwen Road to SR 725 back to Mad River Road.
Also, it is necessary for DP&L to relocate overhead electric lines farther away from the bridge to allow for bridge demolition and reconstruction. This work will occur the week of July 15. Mad River Road will be closed to southbound traffic during that time.
This notice will be revised once the exact date for complete road closure is established.
We thank you for your patience during this necessary bridge reconstruction.
