Judy Dodge was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Colonel White High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in political science from Wright State University. Judy was first elected as the Montgomery County Recorder in 2000, and re-elected in 2004. Then, Judy was elected to the County Commission in November 2006, re-elected in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020.
During her career in public service, Judy has served in a variety of capacities including service as a regional liaison to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and an assistant court administrator for the Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court.
Judy has been recognized for her work in the community on numerous occasions. In 2018, she earned the Ohio Food Policy Network’s ‘Local Food Hero’ Award. In 2016, she was included on the WiBN ‘Top 25 Women to Watch’ list. She also been included in the Dayton Business Journal’s ‘Power 50 Women’ from 2015-2021. Judy was named a 2012 Women of Influence Honoree by the Dayton YWCA. She has also been recognized by the Dayton Daily News as one of the Miami Valley’s Ten Top Women, earned the Law Day’s Liberty Bell Award, and the Dayton Women’s Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
Judy served on several community boards and commissions that has included Dayton Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery Board, County Commissioners of Ohio’s Jobs, Economic Development & Infrastructure Committee, and the National Association of Counties’ Environment Energy and Land Use Sub-Committee.
Judy is honored to serve as a Montgomery County Commissioner, and considers herself to be a voice for vulnerable populations. She has been instrumental in the passage of five Human Services Levies.
Working to expand healthy food access and security, she established the County’s Food Equity Coalition. Judy also co-developed a regional sustainability center, now known as DRG, which is focused on energy reduction and green practices in business, government and residential sectors.
For 16 years, Judy has hosted Inside the Issues, a monthly Radio Reading Program hosted at Goodwill Easter Seals for visually impaired residents. Judy is proud to serve in this capacity and will continue work to enhance the quality of life for all Montgomery County citizens.
Judy currently resides in Vandalia, Ohio and has two children and three grandchildren.
