Judy Dodge was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio where she attended Dayton Public Schools and graduated from Colonel White High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Wright State University in 1985 and graduated from the Leadership Dayton Program in 1991. Judy was elected to the Montgomery County Commission in November 2006, re-elected in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

During her career in public service, Judy has served in a variety of capacities. Judy began her public service in 1985 on the State and Local Government Commission in the Lt. Governor's Office. She went on to serve with Montgomery County Commissioner Paula MacIlwaine from 1987-1991. After her tenure with theCounty Commission, Judy was a Regional Liaison to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office from 1991-1995. She was employed as the Assistant Court Administrator for the Montgomery County Domestic Relations Court during her initial run for office, and was elected to the County Recorder seat in 2000 and re-elected in 2004.  

Judy has been recognized for her work in the community on numerous occasions. She was named a 2012 Women of Influence Honoree by the Dayton YWCA. In 2003, Judy was recognized by the Dayton Daily News as one of the Miami Valley’s Ten Top Women. She has also been honored with the Law Day’s Liberty Bell Award and the Dayton Women’s Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award. Judy has served on several community boards and commissions that included Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative and Regulatory Committee, Sinclair Legal Assistant Advisory Board, Vandalia Housing Code Board of Appeals, Vandalia Rotary Club, Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region, Family Services Association Board and the Dayton Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Judy is honored to serve as a Montgomery County Commissioner, and considers herself to be a voice for vulnerable populations. She has been instrumental in the passage of two Human Services Levies, as well as many important initiatives.  Working to expand food access and security, she established a local Food Policy Coalition.  Judy also co-developed a regional sustainability center, now known as DRG3, which is focused on energy reduction and green practices in business, government and residential sectors.  Judy is proud to serve in this capacity will continue work to enhance the quality of life for all Montgomery County citizens.

Judy currently resides in Vandalia, Ohio and has two children and three grandchildren.
