A deed is a legal document that secures property ownership.  The Auditor is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of these records by means of a "deed transfer" for every parcel of real estate in Montgomery County. This procedure is required for the transfer to be considered a legal transaction.

There is a mandatory conveyance/transfer fee of $3 per $1,000 of the actual sale price and $.50 for each parcel of property that is transferred. 

Please note: The REAL PROPERTY CONVEYANCE FEE STATEMENT OF VALUE AND RECEIPT form has been updated for 2021. There is a grace period until June to use the old form, at which point only the new form will be accepted.
