In an award-winning career spanning more than 40 years, Karl Keith has an extensive background in local government and public service.
Appointed Montgomery County Auditor to fill an unexpired term in December 2000, voters since have elected Keith to serve five full terms, most recently in 2018.
Keith is a recognized leader at the national, state and local levels for his achievements in developing innovative initiatives to make government more responsive, more transparent and more accessible to the public. His peers named him Ohio’s “Outstanding County Auditor” in 2012, and Keith is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Ohio Government Finance Officers Association.
Auditor Keith has held numerous leadership positions in the County Auditors Association and he is a past president of the association. He served two terms on the Ashland University Alumni Board of Directors that included a year as president of the Board, and he recently received a Distinguished Service Award from the AU Alumni Board. Additionally, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Levitt Pavilion in Dayton.
A Certified Cash Manager, Auditor Keith earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Ashland College and a master’s degree in political science from Miami University. He and his wife, Doris, reside in the City of Dayton.
