Environmental Calendar Contest — Contest OPEN!

Calling all student artists! Do you have a passion for the environment and a love for art? We need you for the Montgomery County Environmental Calendar. This contest is sponsored by Montgomery County Environmental Services and is open to all Montgomery County K-12 students. Students are asked to create an original piece of art that supports each year's selected themes.

One winner will have their art featured on the calendar cover and receive $2,500 for their school! Each winner selected for a month cover will receive $500 for their school, and six honorable mentions will earn their school $250!

Students! Please include the following information on the back of your artwork:

  • Your full name, complete address, and current grade
  • Teacher's name and school's name, with school's complete address
  • Student's email address

2021 Environmental Calendar Contest Sponsors

Over the past 17 years, this contest has grown in popularity and received a National Association of Counties Achievement Award and both a City and County Communications Award for Best Publication. Recycled Art Contest - CLOSED

Get ready to create! Recyclable materials are an important resource, and we want to show them off. This contest is sponsored by Montgomery County Environmental Services and encourages K-12 students to create a unique piece of art from recyclable materials! Students may submit individually or as a team of two to four. 

The Recycled Art Contest begins March 1st and the deadline to register your sculpture is April 8. Completed sculptures must be dropped off at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery on Thursday, May 4th. Be sure to view the brochure about the program!

The Recycled Art Award Ceremony will be held at the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the award ceremony starts at 10 a.m.

Recycle Right Video Contest — CLOSED

Lights, camera, action! Montgomery County hosts the annual Recycle Right Video Contest. Students are encouraged to create a 30-second video highlighting what can be recycled at the curbside in Montgomery County. The contest is open to all Montgomery County students in grades 9-12. Students may create a video individually or work in teams of up to four.
