The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management is responsible for the regional Emergency Management Agency, which provides disaster preparation, prevention, response and recovery services to citizens and businesses. We work with local responders to create plans, conduct training, and secure equipment to enhance emergency preparedness for our community. We also work closely with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency and work to secure funding, training, and information for our local emergency response.
Montgomery County offers free CodeRED high-speed notifications. This emergency alert system sends severe and urgent Emergency Management and National Weather Service messages to residents and businesses by landline, cell phone, text message, and email.
The system targets users within an exact area of impact and allows residents to customize what type of alerts they receive. These alerts can include situations such as:
Shelter in place notice
Active shooter notifications
Boil water advisories
Water main breaks
Emergency contact information and resources (shelter locations, food distribution, water distribution, etc.)
Sign up to get alerts relative to your residence or get the app to receive alerts based on your phone's location. The nationwide system can alert you through the app even when you are on vacation.
