On December 13, 1993, the Montgomery County Prosecutor's Office held the first annual Homicide Victim Memorial Service. Every year since, except for 2016, it has been held on the second Monday in December.
The purpose of the Annual Homicide Victim Memorial Service is to memorialize victims killed by violence and to assist homicide survivors through the difficult holiday season. It serves to recognize the impact violent deaths have on the entire community.
The 2022 Homicide Victim Virtual Memorial Service was held on December 12, 2022.
