Excellence in Scanning Award

The Charles Richmond Excellence in Scanning Award is presented annually by Auditor Karl Keith to a Montgomery County business that has shown excellence in price verification (scanning) inspections throughout the year. Weights and measures inspectors recommend businesses that pass scanning tests, have been cooperative with the inspection procedures and have worked hard to ensure their customers are treated fairly. These inspectors perform price verifications each year at local retailers to confirm posted item prices match prices at the checkout.

The Charles Richmond Excellence in Scanning Award was rededicated in 2022 in honor of Charles Richmond, a weights and measures inspector who tragically passed away in September of 2021. Richmond was a twenty-four-year veteran of the Auditor’s Office in the weights and measures department.
