Montgomery County is only the 3rd of 88 counties in Ohio to offer offsite recording services. This free innovative service was introduced to primarily assist those Veterans who are disabled or immobile to record their active duty military service release documentation (DD-214) conveniently and securely outside of the walls of the 5th floor of the County Administration Building. The DD-214 is crucial for Veterans to verify their military service and to receive benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs or their local state government. "Our DD-214 is the access point to benefits. We must ensure no benefit we have earned by our service is denied or lost because our DD-214 is lost or damaged beyond being legible. Every Veteran has earned better," stated Veteran and Former Recorder Brandon McClain.
