Master Recycler & Compost Kitchen

Master Recycler Class

The Master Recycler Class is a service-learning program designed to educate participants about recycling and waste reduction in Montgomery County, Ohio. As part of the certification, participants will be required to attend 8 hours of Master Recycling classes and volunteer 20 hours to assist Montgomery County Environmental Services and Five Rivers Metro Parks in engaging the public in recycling activities in the Miami Valley.

  • Class offered: Once a year
  • Class duration: Meet once a week for four weeks.
  • For 2022, the program dates are August 3 to August 24.
  • Cost: Free

Compost Kitchen

Our Compost Kitchen program was created in partnership with Five Rivers Metroparks. This is a comprehensive three-part program designed for the beginner composter. A mix of classroom learning and hands-on activities cover topics such as soil ecology, chemical-free gardening, and household waste management. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a free backyard composting unit.
