Recycled Art ContestAn artistic sculpture of a man's upper torso made entirely from recyclable materials

Submit your recycled art for the 25th Annual Recycled Art Contest. This contest promotes environmental awareness among students while encouraging artistic and creative thinking.

Eligibility

The contest is open to all Montgomery County students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. Recycled artwork must be designed and built by students, with a focus on the use of recyclable materials that have been reclaimed or reused. Participants must register to participate in the Recycled Art Contest.

Recycled Art may be created by:

  • Individuals
  • Teams of two to four students

School Category & Divisions

Each school's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners for each division will be invited to participate in the County-wide contest.

How Recycled Art Will Be Judged

  • The number of recyclable materials used (i.e., wood, paper, plastic, metals).
  • Glass is not permitted.
  • Percent of artwork made from recycled materials
  • Originality (Recycled Artwork can be realistic or abstract)
  • Design and artistic impact (wow factor)
  • The complexity of recycled artwork

Recycled Art Guidelines

  • Recycled Art cannot exceed 3 feet (wide), by 3 feet (long), by 4 feet (tall).
  • One entry per student or team.
  • Entries exceeding these limits will be disqualified. All materials to be counted in the judging must be visible on the recycled art.

Registration Deadline

Friday, April 8, 2022: Schools must register to participate in the Recycled Art Contest.

Important Dates: April 18 to 22, 2022

  • Choose 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place school winners.
  • Complete the School Winners Form and fax the winner's names to 937-496-3363 or email Lorelei Hagans.
  • Include the total number of school participants.
  • Sign-up your school recycled art winners for a drop-off date and time.

  • Wednesday, April 27th from Noon to 5 pm
  • Thursday, April 28th from 9 to 11:30 am

  1. School-level winning recycled art

Attend the awards ceremony on April 30th. Doors open at 9:30 am ceremony starts at 10 am.

Please remove recycled art after the award ceremony. Montgomery County Environmental Science (MCES) will not be responsible for recycled art left at the conclusion of the ceremony.
