What is the SMART Project?
The Montgomery County Sewer Modernization and Revitalized Treatment (SMART) project ensures our existing wastewater infrastructure remains in optimal condition to continue servicing our community for years to come. One way to do this is to build large, industrial pumps at our Dryden Road facility. These pumps will transport more than 70 million gallons of wastewater per day to our Western Regional Water Reclamation Facility in West Carrollton.
There, a new pre-treatment facility will be built. This facility will feature large, industrial screens to divert large materials including wipes, feminine hygiene products, cotton swabs, children's toys, and more out of the wastewater stream.
Another aspect of the SMART Project is to move our existing Environmental Laboratory downtown, to our County Administration building.
