Theme: Water
Date/Times: Saturday, March 7, 2014 , 12:00 - 2:30 p.m.
Featuring the Book:Follow the Water from Brook to Ocean by Arthur Dorros
Interest Level:K - 2; Genre: Nonfiction

Follow the Water from Brook to Ocean is a nonfiction book that explains how water is always flowing, from a brook to a stream, to a river to the ocean. Students will read about how water shapes the earth and why it is important to keep our water clean. This book clearly explains terms like "brook," "stream," "river," and "delta," and the full-color illustrations show where water comes from, how it travels, and where it goes. This is a Stage 2, Let's-Read-and-Find-Out, which means the book explores more challenging concepts for children in the primary grades. Let's-Read-And-Find-Out is the winner of the American Association for the Advancement of Science/Subaru Science Books & Films Prize for Outstanding Science Series. Supports the Common Core Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Teachers will create props and a storytelling center to use in retelling the story. Participants will receive a copy of the book and other resources to use in teaching their students about water.
