Featuring the Book: Water Dance by Thomas Locker

Water Dance is a fictional story and a tribute to water. Water is described in a dramatic, poetic text with thirteen oil paintings giving waster a voice as the learner becomes inspired by this story of water in all its glorious forms. From a gentle mountain pond to a raging waterfall or from a silent ocean mist to a sparkling rainbow, Water Dance is a poetic introduction to one of nature's most basic elements. Scientific facts about water, the water cycles and its role in our lives are included. Teachers will create props and a storytelling center to use in retelling the story, and learn about supplemental pre-reading activities and curriculum connections in reading, writing, mathematics and science. Participants will receive copies of the books and other resources to use in teaching their students about water.
