Household Recycling Drop Off

Glass, Cans, Plastic, Paper, Cardboard and Electronics Recycling

Recycling stations are available to Montgomery County residents at the North Transfer Facility, 6589 Old Webster, Vandalia and the South Transfer Facility, 1001 Encrete Lane, Moraine.  Please sort the items below for placement in the proper containers.  NOTE:  If items are bundled or in bags, please remove ties and/or dump from bags into the appropriate containers.

Co-mingled Recyclables (Glass, plastic and aluminum, bi-metal and steel cans)

Glass

Acceptable
Clear, brown, green and blue glass food and beverage containers and jars

Unacceptable    
Window glass, mirrors, light bulbs, drinking glasses or cookware

Cans

Acceptable
Aluminum beverage cans, steel soup/food cans, empty aerosol cans

Unacceptable
Pots/pans, coat hangers, scrap steel, window frames, paint cans

Plastic

Acceptable
Plastic bottles #1 through #7 (soft drink, salad dressing, ketchup, peanut butter containers, milk jugs, water, shampoo
)

Unacceptable
Plastic caps/lids, plastic bowls/buckets, oil jugs, plastic grocery bags, yogurt cups

Mixed paper

Acceptable
Office paper (all colors), junk mail, envelopes, newspaper, magazines, telephone books, paperboard boxes (cereal & gift boxes), drink boxes and other gable-top cartons

Unacceptable
Hard bound books, pizza boxes, napkins, paper plates, frozen food cartons

Corrugated Cardboard

Acceptable
Shipping, packing and storage boxes

Electronics

Acceptable
Computers, monitors, radios, televisions, VCR's, DVD/CD players, speakers, typewriters, fax machines, telephones/cell phones, 2-way radios, answering machines, scanners, microwaves

Unacceptable
Vacuums, irons, toasters, toaster ovens, blenders and other countertop appliances
