Join the many schools, daycares, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Senior Groups and other organizations participating in this annual project to spread an environmental message in support of Earth Day (April 22). The Montgomery County Solid Waste District (MCSWD) teams up with Kroger to provide the paper grocery bags. All your organization has to do to participate in this free activity is to designate a coordinator and fill out the request form below. The requested grocery bags will be delivered to your school or organization around mid-March. The fun begins then….get as creative as possible to share ideas, thoughts and suggestions all in appreciation of our Earth. It is your chance to create awareness on how important it is to take care of our Earth. Once the grocery bags are decorated, your school or organization will deliver the grocery bags to any Kroger store nearby no later than Friday, April 11. The Kroger store will distribute the bags to Kroger shoppers during the week of Earth Day.
The Earth Day Groceries Project is one of the oldest and largest educational activity on the internet. There are hundreds of schools around the world that will be participating. Take a look at the website www.earthdaybags.org for ideas on how to decorate your bags. You can also look at the MCSWD website for pictures from last year’s Earth Day Groceries Project. They are available at www.mcswd.org under Contests/Projects for K-12 Students. Speaking of pictures, we would love to include your school or organization’s Earth Day Groceries Project pictures on our website. Electronic photos can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
