Medicaid Application Center Open with Free Computer Use;
Phone Bank Now Open for People with Medicaid Questions
As we begin to implement the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services (MCDJFS) is assisting the public with new resources and answers to important questions.
We have set up an Application Center, where the public can get assistance and free computer use for Medicaid applications. It is located in Suite 281 of The Job Mall at The Job Center, 1111 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd. Center hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. People can also apply at home or at a public library by going to www.benefits.ohio.gov.
MCDJFS has also opened a phone bank where people can call to ask questions about Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. The toll-free number is (855) 358-0204.

Need Not Re-Apply Immediately
If I am already receiving Medicaid, should I re-apply now using the new system to get more benefits under the Affordable Care Act?
No. You should follow the re-application timing you received when you were granted benefits. It is important to know that there are no new benefits associated with Medicaid under ACA.
Anyone who signs up now at www.benefits.ohio.gov is applying for benefits to start Jan. 1, 2014. Income levels for Medicaid eligibility have not been raised with the start of early enrollment, but some things that used to count as part of your income, such child support, will no longer count.
Those who do not qualify for Medicaid will be directed to the The Health Insurance Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov. There they can consider other health plan options so they can comply with ACA and avoid an income tax penalty.
