The Montgomery County Payment Summary Unit is responsible for updating court and administrative orders along with updating account balances. Orders can be received from Domestic Relations Courts, Juvenile Courts, Administrative orders, or from another state. Account Details are provided to the courts to assist in their actions when requested either by the courts, the CSEA Litigation Unit, or the prosecutor's office. Account details can also be requested by either party on a case. If an account detail has been previously completed in the last six months, another account detail would not be completed until the 6 months has lapsed. Account Details may also be requested by attorneys as needed; however the CSEA must have a signed release of information on file for the attorney. The Payment Summary Unit also forwards account details and payment histories to another state when requested. Please note that both the updating of orders and account detail requests are processed in the order they are received.
Updating Account Balances - Cases are updated once objection timeframes have lapsed on orders received. Some orders will require account balances be adjusted or changed. When an account balance is changed per an order, an Account Detail may be completed to verify balances on a case. When receiving information from another state to update account balances, additional action may need to be taken to verify the other states information prior to updating the case.
Audit Request For Court or Hearing Preparation - Account Details are provided to the Court, CSEA Litigation team, Prosecutors Office, Administrative Hearing Officers and requesting Attorneys as needed for court preparation and hearings.
Court Actions - Information can be forwarded to the Court or Administrative Hearing Officers to take possible actions on cases. Some of these actions include but are not limited to Emancipation, Termination of Order due to death, marriage, Affidavit of Arrearages, Termination of Support due to Legal Change of Custody, Termination of Support due to the Adoption of a Child or Termination of Spousal Support.
Emancipation - Age of emancipation for an Ohio Order is 18 and graduated or withdrawn from School, no older than the age of 19 unless otherwise stated in the order or changes made in the law. Emancipation for other states must follow the other states guidelines. Each year, the CSEA sends a list to each respective court requesting emancipation of children who turn 18 between August of the previous year through July of the present year. Emancipation notices are sent from both the courts and the CSEA (for administrative orders) to parties of a case. If no objections are received back, both the courts and the CSEA will complete emancipation orders. If you have any questions about Emancipation please contact the Montgomery County CSEA.
Documentation that may be required by the courts or CSEA for Emancipation includes:
Copy of Diploma, if age of 18.
Letter from school stating graduated or withdrawn, if age of 18.
Marriage Certificate for the child if married
