The Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services offers protective services for persons 60 years of age and older. Adult Protected Services investigates cases of suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, self-neglect, and services are provided without regard to income. The goals of APS are to prevent, reduce, or remedy conditions causing endangerment to adults, maximize their independence and provide self direction to prevent unnecessary institutionalization.

Not for a referral most referrals are made over the phone |

Yes, an interview is required. You can call the intake line at 225-4906 |
| How long does it take for an application to be processed? |
Routine referrals must be started within 3 working days. Emergencies must be started within 24 hours, but are usually started within one hour. Most cases are resolved in 60 days or less. |
