    FAIR

    WHAT IS FAIR?

FAIR is the Family Advocacy Intervention and Review Program of Montgomery County Children Services. FAIR acts as an internal ombudsman which assures that families are receiving services to which they are entitled.

The FAIR program objective is to make sure grievances of clients, foster parents, adoptive parents, other agencies and the community at large which have not been resolved through the normal chain of command are handled quickly while protecting the rights of clients and consumers.

FAIR uses a standardized method to review concerns and complaints about the actions and procedures of Montgomery County Children Services when customary channels fail. FAIR operates through the Quality Centered Services Department of Children Services and reflects the strong commitment of the agency to continually evaluate and improve services.

If you believe you have been discriminated against, treated unfairly, denied a service you believe you should receive or are confused about laws and regulations, call FAIR at 937-276-1768.

An employee in the FAIR unit will listen to you, investigate your complaint and respond quickly, explain what is happening and why, and mediate conflicts between you and Children Services.

FAIR also manages inquiries and requests for information on all closed records, including finalized agency adoptions. FAIR can review a closed adoption file and provide a summary of non-identifying information to adult adoptees and birth family members. This includes any social and medical history.
