Dear Prospective Foster/Adoptive Parent:
Thank you for your interest in fostering/adopting a child through Montgomery County Jobs & Family Services, Children Services Division. The enclosed information has been prepared to answer some of the commonly asked questions about the program(s) you have indicated interest in.
We regularly hold information meetings for people who have expressed interest in becoming foster and/or adoptive parents. The information provided at these meetings includes an overview of the Agency's services and programs, a review of the foster care and adoption assessment process and a discussion of our need for foster and adoptive homes. We also discuss the "blended homestudy" option, our expectations of foster and adoptive parents, your role as a prospective foster or adoptive parent, answer questions about our children and acquaint you, through pictures and descriptions, with children who are currently available for adoption.
We encourage you to attend a Foster Care/Adoption Information meeting at your earliest convenience. If after attending the information meeting, you would like to initiate the process to be licensed as a foster care/adoptive parent, immediately following the meeting at 7:00 p.m., you are welcome to attend Session #1 of the required 36 hour foster care/adoption training program.
A schedule for 2010 is outlined below. The meetings are informal, so please feel free to come and ask questions.
Again thank you for your interest.
Sincerely, Dale Richardson
Montgomery County Children Services
