Treasurer has Mailed Real Estate Tax Bills, Due February 13th, 2008

Dayton, Ohio – Montgomery County Treasurer Carolyn Rice announced that first half 2007 (payable 2008) real estate tax bills have been mailed. Payments are due on Wednesday, February 13th 2008.

Taxpayers have several options for payment:

  • Cash: Cash payments may be made in person at the Treasurer's Office located at the Montgomery County Administration Building at 451 W Third Street Dayton, OH 45422. Cashiers are conveniently located on the 1st and 2nd Floors.
  • Personal Check or Money Order: May be made in person at the Treasurer's Office or can be mailed. When mailing, enclose the full bill and a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of your tax receipt. Payments can also be dropped in the County's Blue-colored Mailbox on the curb of Third Street next to the County Administration building.
  • Electronic Payment: Electronic checks using a regular checking account can be used for payment by accessing www.mcrealestate.org and selecting the "Property Records" tab and following the instructions.
  • Credit Card: All Credit Cards are subject to a convenience charge.
    • Discover Card: Call the Treasurer's Office at (937) 225-4010.
    • MasterCard, Visa, and American Express: Payments may be made online at www.officialpayments.com OR by telephone at 1-800-2PAY TAX, enter jurisdiction code 4530 and follow the voice prompts.

Payment sent by mail is considered paid on time as long as it is postmarked (not metered) on or before the due date. Online payments are considered paid on time if the payment process is completed by 11:59 PM on the due date. In order to ensure the online payment process is complete, we recommend you pay at least two (2) days in advance of the due date.

A 5% penalty will be applied to all first half 2007 tax charges that are paid on or between February 14th 2008 and February 22nd, 2008. A 10% penalty is applied to all first half 2007 tax charges that have not been paid as of February 22nd, 2008.

National Guard and Military Reserve personnel serving outside the State of Ohio on Active Duty are eligible for a delay in their property taxes. Such personnel must obtain an application form and submit it to the Treasurer's Office. The Exemption Form can be located on the Treasurer's Office website under the ´Forms and Applications' page. The Treasurer's Office Home Page located at www.mcohio.org.

Regular business hours for the Treasurer's Office are 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Saturday, February 9th, 2007, the Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon, to accommodate taxpayers who are unable to visit the office during the work week. The Treasurer's Office is located on the 2nd floor of the County Administration building, 451 W. Third Street. Additionally, the Treasurer's Office Payment Center is conveniently located on the 1st floor of the County Administration building.
