Dog License Deadline - January 31st

Release Date
: Jan 28, 2010
File:

Summary:
Montgomery County Commissioners Dan Foley, Judy Dodge and Debbie Lieberman join County Auditor Karl Keith in thanking over 38,000 Montgomery County dog owners who have purchased their dog licenses so far this license season!

Time is running out with the January 31st deadline approaching. After that date, a penalty applies.

"A dog license is the best way to reunite lost dogs with their owners," said Animal Resource Center Director Mark Kumpf.  "Animal Care & Control Officers can trace tags in the field and bring a lost dog straight home. Dogs wearing their tags have their first day fees waived.  Hundreds of dogs are returned each year by wearing a current license tag!"

IAMS Corporation has joined with Montgomery County to promote dog licensing.  Special coupons valued at over $15 for IAMS and Procter & Gamble products are still available at County sales locations while supplies last.

Dog license sales are the Animal Resource Center's major source of funding.  Proceeds from license sales ensure that the Animal Resource Center can care for stray and lost animals, spay and neuter every animal that leaves the center as an adopted pet and provide animal control services throughout the County.

Dog owners can purchase their license through January 31, 2010.  The cost of a 2010 Montgomery County dog license is $20.

Licenses are available online at www.mcohio.org/dogs, at Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith's Office, the Animal Resource Center and numerous outposts.  Dog owners will special needs may call the Animal Resource Center at 898-4457 extension 1 to request an Animal Care & Control Officer to arrange a license purchase.
