Montgomery County Commissioners Dan Foley and Judy Dodge joined County Auditor Karl Keith to present the #1 and #2 Dog Tags during a ceremony on Friday, January 22, 2010, at the County Administration Building.

The #1 Dog Tag was presented to Lucy, a six year old mixed breed who is owned by Nata Collier of Washington Township.  Buddy, a five year old Beagle/Huskie mix, who belongs to Ron and Francie Camp of Centerville, received the #2 Dog Tag.

The top tags serve as reminders to license all dogs in Montgomery County.  The dogs' owners offered the top bids for the number one and number two tags at last fall's SICSA auction.

Dog owners can purchase their license through January 31, 2010.  The cost of a 2010 Montgomery County dog license is $20.

Licenses are available online at www.mcohio.org/dogs, at Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith's Office, the Animal Resource Center and numerous outposts.  On Sunday, January 31, 2010, the Animal Resource Center will extend its hours from 11 am until 4 pm in order to allow citizens ample time to purchase their 2010 dog licenses.  Call 937-225-4314 for more information.

Dog license sales are the Animal Resource Center's major source of funding.  Proceeds from license sales ensure that the Animal Resource Center can care for stray and lost animals, spay and neuter every animal that leaves the center as an adopted pet and provide animal control services throughout the County.
