Water Discoloration Experienced in Southern Portions of County

Release Date
: Aug 10, 2009
File:

Summary:
Residents and businesses in the West Kettering, Southern Hills, Moraine, and northern parts of Washington Township areas may be experiencing discoloration in their water.  This is a temporary condition caused by a water pump failure this morning.  While the pump failure lasted only about 20 minutes, the water discoloration may still be noticeable through early afternoon.  This is a nuisance rather than a hazard and residents need not be concerned about drinking the water.  While the water is safe to drink, the discoloration can cause some issues when washing white or light colored clothing.  It is suggested that residents hold off washing these items until they are satisfied that the water is running clear.  Water customers are advised to turn on cold water in the bathtub and let run for five minutes or until the water runs clear.  If after five minutes the water is still discolored, wait 30 minutes and then try again.

Customers may call Montgomery County Water Services at 781-2678 for more information.
