It's time to kick-off the 2009 Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District's (MCACD) Individual Artist Fellowship grant program. The MCACD is a special purpose unit of Montgomery County government which provides $55,000 annually to support the Individual Artist Fellowship Program.  The Individual Artist Fellowship Program provides grants of $5,000 through a competitive process in support of the artistic development of Montgomery County artists. Nine individual fellowships are available at $5,000 each and one Lifetime Achievement Award will be awarded at $10,000. Previous lifetime achievement award recipients are not eligible to apply. The 2009-2010 program is open to artists living in Montgomery County who work in visual, media, folk/craft, and interdisciplinary art forms.  The Lifetime Achievement Award is by nomination only and does not have to be in the visual arts category.

A free workshop covering the application process will be held at the Dayton Metro Library, 215 E. Third Street, on Saturday May 16 from 10 a.m. until noon. Topics covered will include the application, the writing of an artist's statement, and the digital requirements for submitting works. Interested artists are encouraged to attend the workshop. Reservations are not required.

To be eligible for a Fellowship, artists must be a resident of Montgomery County for at least one year before the deadline and remain a Montgomery County resident during the period of support.

Application forms will be available at the workshops and on the MCACD website: http://www.mcohio.org/services/ced/art_cultural.html. There is a two-step application process for this competitive grant:
