Summary:
The Montgomery County Solid Waste District is teaming up with Five Rivers Metroparks for the popular "Master Recycler Education Program" that will be offered to interested residents in 2009. Participants can learn the details of reducing, reusing, and recycling their solid waste during this five week education opportunity. Over 1600 tons of trash pass through Montgomery County Transfer Stations each day and classes will be full of information and tips to help you do your part to reduce this number.
The course will be held on Thursday evenings, February 12 – March 12, 2009. Upon completion of the course, participants are requested to volunteer 25 hours with the Montgomery County Solid Waste District or Five Rivers Metroparks. The fee is $10.00 for materials. Potential applicants should contact Kevin Kepler, Metroparks Volunteer Services Manager, at 937-275-PARK (7275) to obtain an application and schedule an interview.
In 2008, 20 individuals participated in the five-week course and volunteered nearly 300 hours in support of the Montgomery County Solid Waste District and Five Rivers Metroparks.
