Sanitary Engineering Announces Name Change
|
Release Date: Sep 30, 2008
File:
Summary:
Effective January 1, 2009, the Montgomery County Sanitary Engineering Department will become Montgomery County Water Services.
A 2006 survey of residential customers and a 2007 survey of commercial customers found that less than a third of those surveyed could accurately describe the services provided by the Sanitary Engineering Department. Customer focus groups were conducted by Wright State University's Center for Urban and Public Affairs during the summer of 2008.
As a result of the findings of the surveys and the focus groups, the decision was made to change the name to Montgomery County Water Services. "We are responsible for the delivery of water and the treatment of wastewater," explained Greg Merrill, Department Director. "The new name is much more simplistic and descriptive. It should assist our customers in understanding our services and aid in contacting us."
The new name will be phased in over time so as to contain costs. According to Merrill, other changes are being implemented as a result of customer input including changes to the water/sewer bill. "We are incorporating many of our customers' recommendations in the new billing format which should be introduced around the first of the year."
