Road Closure - Yankee Street in Washington Township

Paul Gruner, P.E., P.S., Montgomery County Engineer, wishes to announce that Yankee Street in Washington Township will be closed to through traffic from Lyons Road to Spring Valley Pike beginning Wednesday, November 7, and lasting for 21 days.  Detour routes will be marked on Lyons Road, McEwen Road, Spring Valley Pike and Washington Church Road.  Access to Yankee Street will be unaffected for businesses between Lyons Road and Yankee Vineyard Lane.

This road closure is necessary as part of the Montgomery County Engineer’s project to widen Yankee Street from two lanes to five lanes to Spring Valley Pike.  Work to be accomplished during this period includes installation of a box culvert across Yankee Street, installation of several storm sewers crossing the road, and completion of a 30” water line relocation. Work is being expedited so that traffic can be moved to new pavement for the Winter.

This work is somewhat weather dependent, and updates will be communicated as necessary.

The patience of the public and their careful, safe driving during these operations is greatly appreciated.

Please contact Paul Gruner at 937.225.6040 (office), 937.422.4399 (cell), or via email at grunerp@mcohio.org if you have any questions.

County Engineers in Ohio are required by law to be registered as both Professional Engineers (P.E.) and Professional Surveyors (P.S.) They are responsible for the maintenance and construction of county roads and maintenance and construction of bridges on county roads, township roads, and certain streets within municipalities. They are also responsible for maintaining land surveying records, checking the accuracy and adequacy of recorded land transfer records, and establishing or re-establishing certain land survey monuments.
