Child Abuse/Neglect Referral Statistics Released for 2011

Child abuse and neglect referrals declined slightly in Montgomery County during 2011.  Last year, there were a total of 3,757 referrals, compared to 3,903 in 2010.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about this problem and encourage everyone to be part of the solution.  “Child abuse is preventable,” said Children Services Assistant Director Geraldine Pegues.  “This is a call to action for all of us to do our part to make child abuse and neglect unacceptable in our community.”
