Economically disadvantaged youth, ages 14 to 17 years old, are encouraged to participate in the Summer Youthworks Program offered by the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services. Youthworks allows young people, whose families meet the income eligibility requirements, the chance to improve life management and job readiness skills while gaining summer employment.
“This gives teens on-the-job training in a wide variety of entry-level jobs during the summer months including retail establishments, local businesses, hospitals, non-profit and government agencies,” said Heath MacAlpine, assistant director of Workforce Development.
The deadline to register is Friday, March 30, 2012. Young adults interested in the Summer Youthworks Program can learn more by calling 224-1482 or by visiting or www.thejobcenter.org.
