Hunger Awareness Press Conference
On Friday, April 15, 2011, Montgomery Commissioner Judy Dodge welcomed Ambassador and former Congressman, Tony Hall to the House of Bread in Dayton. Ambassador Hall discussed his current fast to raise public awareness of the most vulnerable citizens, globally and locally.

Tony Hall is leading a large coalition of Christian, Muslim, Jewish and nonprofit organizations in a broad based movement of fasting, prayer and advocacy, provoked by budget cuts proposed by Congress that would disproportionately hurt those living in poverty.

Along with Ambassador Hall, four other leaders, Jim Wallis, President and CEO of Sojourners, Rev. David Beckmann, President of Bread for the World, Ruth Messinger, President of American Jewish World Service, and Ritu Sharma, President of Women Thrive Worldwide-joined in an extended water only fast. In launching www.hungerfast.org, they are calling on people of faith and conscience to join them, pledged to put pressure on Congress to form a "circle of protection" around programs benefitting poor and hungry people.
Ambassador Hall is sending a message for people to join him in fasting for this cause.

Since it began on March 28th, more than 36,000 people across the country have joined in the fast.
