DAYTON, OHIO---The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau won three MIDDY Awards for marketing excellence at the Ohio Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus 13th Annual Awards of Excellence program held last week in Delaware, Ohio. MIDDY Awards are presented or materials utilized in destination marketing and tourism development that reflect excellence in planning, creativity, effectiveness of message, concept, and design. The word "MIDDY" reflects our region of the country as well as the states contiguous to Ohio to whom the competition was open.
The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau's work was recognized in three categories: video, print ad, and brochure/marketing campaign. The CVB won a 1st place MIDDY Award for their "Community Ambassador Award Winners Video Interviews", a 1st place MIDDY Award for the "Race to Dayton's Amazing Aviation Places" brochure/marketing campaign done in conjunction with Wright-Dunbar Inc and other Preserve America partners, and a 2nd place MIDDY Award for the "Dayton Birthplace of Aviation and Home of Top-Flight Events" print ad. Nearly 100 entries from across the region were eligible in this year's competition. All entries were judged by a team of experts in the communications, advertising, public relations, publications and/or tourism field from outside of the OACVB membership.
"Convention & Visitors Bureau's representing cities and destinations in our state and surrounding states can often be our primary competitors for convention, leisure, meeting and event business so it is an honor for our destination and marketing materials to win awards in this arena" states Jacquelyn Y. Powell, President/CEO of the Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The Dayton/Montgomery County Convention & Visitors Bureau, an independent, non-profit organization funded by a county-wide customer hotel/motel bed tax, serves as an economic catalyst by marketing and promoting our community as THE Ohio destination and providing services for tourism events, conventions, leisure and business travel and advocacy for destination development.
