Shelagh McGovern, an employee at the Kuntz Adult Services Center, arranged for the
McGovern Ceili Dancers to perform at the Jergens Adult Services Center for some St.
Patrick's Day fun on March 17. The dancers had a busy day with 11 performances scheduled
around town, but still took the time after their performance to teach a little Irish dance
to individuals with disabilities. This was clearly one of the highlights of the event with everyone
in attendance excited to see these volunteers from the audience perform.
The McGovern Ceili Dancers were dressed in Celtic dance attire and represented quite a
range of ages. The Jergens Adult Services Center was decked out for the celebration
with shamrocks and a rainbow with a pot of gold. The crowd cheered the dancers
throughout their performance, especially the youngest ones.
The McGovern Ceili Dancers have performed for numerous St. Patrick's Day celebrations
at Jergens over the past 25 years. Shelagh McGovern owns three dance studios in the
area, including the Shamrock House on Linden. A special thanks to Shelagh McGovern
and the McGovern Ceili Dancers for helping out with the St. Patrick's Day celebration at
Jergens Center.
