Road Closure - Clyo Road-Spring Valley Pike Intersection in Washington Township

Paul Gruner, P.E., P.S., Montgomery County Engineer, wishes to announce that the Clyo Road and Spring Valley Pike intersection in Washington Township will be closing on Thursday, May 8, 2014, and extend through the end of the year. This date is a few weeks earlier than previously announced due to field conditions and construction procedures.

Detour routes will be marked as follows:

From the south: Nutt Road, South Main Street, and Franklin Street.

From the west: South Main Street, Franklin Street, Centerville Station Road, and Wilmington-Dayton Road.

From the north: Franklin Street, South Main Street, and Nutt Road.

From the east: Wilmington-Dayton Road, Centerville Station Road, Franklin Street, and South Main Street.

Access to all local streets (Springrun Lane, Woodstream Lane, Country Corner Lane) and drives will be maintained at all times. During the full closure, only access in the direction away from the intersection will be maintained; travel through the intersection will not be possible during the full closure. The Washington Creek Lane/Clyo Road intersection will remain open throughout the project.

This road closure is necessary as part of the Montgomery County Engineer’s project to install a traffic signal and left turn lanes on each approach at the intersection. Work to be accomplished as part of the project includes extension of a box culvert on the west side of Clyo Road, installation of a retaining wall upstream of the culvert, closed storm sewer systems, extensions of 12” and 16”water lines on Spring Valley Pike and Clyo Road, stabilization of soft subgrades, and sidewalk construction along Spring Valley Pike. Work is being expedited in an effort to open the intersection by the end of the year.

This work is highly dependent on weather and many other factors; updates will be communicated throughout construction as necessary.

The patience of the public and their careful, safe driving during this period is greatly appreciated.
