Montgomery County Announces 2017 Calendar Contest to Promote Environmental Awareness

Montgomery County Environmental Services is now accepting entries for the 15th annual Environmental Calendar Contest, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable behavior.

“Our educational contests and programs help to prepare the next generation of leaders in our community,” said Montgomery County Commission President Dan Foley. “We always look forward to seeing the fun, creative ways that our young people find to express their thoughts about environmental awareness and sustainability.”

The contest is open to all Montgomery County students in grades K-12. Students create an original piece of art pertaining to one of two themes:

  • Litter Theme: It’s in Your Hands
  • Water Theme: Be a Part of the Solution, Not the Pollution

Calendar winners will attend a special awards ceremony with cake and refreshments, and be recognized by the Montgomery County Commissioners. Last year, the top student artist, Peter J. Tsatalis, received framed artwork and a plaque recognizing his winning cover artwork.

The deadline to submit contest entries is Sept. 29, 2017.  Mail entries to: Montgomery County Solid Waste District, Attn: Calendar Contest, 2550 Sandridge Drive, Moraine, Ohio 45439.
