Criteria for Adult Adoptions Who may be adopted? (Section 3107.02 O.R.C.) |
- Adoptee must be over eighteen (18) years of age
- Adoptee must have established a child-foster parent or child-stepparent relationship with the petitioner(s) as a minor and consents to the adoption
- Adoptee who is totally and permanently disabled
- Adoptee who is determined to be a mentally retarded person as defined in Section 5123.01 of the Ohio Revised Code

Other Requirements |
- On the date set for hearing, the Petitioner(s) and adult must appear in Court
Note: If stepparent, biological parent must also be present at hearing
- All forms and requirements must be presented prior to the initiation of an adoption case
- Certified marriage record (Petitioner(s))
- In a foster parent adult adoption, proof of child-foster parent relationship is required
