Patron Services

Reference Services - The Library staff will assist users in the location of information and materials needed to support legal research and offer instruction in the use of these tools. Reference service does not include performing research for the user or the offering of legal advice or opinions. Patrons may direct inquiries to the Library's Assistant Law Librarian for Research & User Services Donald Walker at 937-225-4496. E-mail inquiries may be sent to dwalker@daylawlib.org

The Staff may assist in research as directed by the user, but the user will remain the person solely responsible for the quality and quantity of the research regardless of the amount of assistance provided. Likewise, the user is responsible for any advice, counsel and conduct with respect to his or her client(s).

Circulation Policies - Circulating materials may be charged out at the circulation desk. This privilege is extended to registered attorney users only. Sponsored law students and paralegals may charge out material in the name of their sponsor. Library materials may be charged out for no longer than two weeks. The Library reserves the right to recall circulating items at any time. Overdue notices will be sent for unreturned items following the two week loan period and replacement costs will be charged for lost materials. Some materials are restricted to use in the Library. These works are marked NON-CIRC.

Photocopy Services - A photocopy machine is available near the circulation area. The charge for copies produced on the Library's photocopying equipment is twenty cents ($.20) per copy. This charge also applies to copies made from the network printer located in the media center as well as copies made from microforms.

Facsimile Services - The Law Library maintains a facsimile machine for in-house and patron use. The charge for this service is twenty cents ($.20) per page for receiving a fax transmission and two dollars ($2.00) per document, with a twenty-five page maximum, for sending a transmission. An additional cost will be charged for lengthy documents.
