Montgomery County is replacing the existing Broadway Street Bridge over the Wolf Creek in the City of Trotwood in 2015/2016.
The existing bridge carries approximately 3,800 vehicles a day, is structurally deficient, and is nearing the end of its serviceable life. This project replaces the Broadway Street Bridge over Wolf Creek that was built in 1960.
The proposed structure is a three span continuous reinforced concrete slab bridge supported on reinforced concrete capped pile abutments and capped pile piers with concrete encasement. The three span bridge will be 118 feet long and 44' toe to toe curb with 2 -6’ sidewalks. The project also includes minor shared used path realignment, water line relocation, channel protection and the replacement of a retaining wall.
Broadway Street will be closed to traffic during construction, and a detour will be in place. Construction is start October 26, 2015 and to be complete summer 2016. The closure of the bridge for replacement is estimated to be 270 days, weather permitting.
The detour for project is Trotwood Blvd to Olive Road to Wolf Creek Pike to Main Street. The shared use path is detoured as well.
Bids were taken for the project on September 16, 2015 and the contract was awarded to Eagle Bridge Co. of Sidney, Ohio on September 29, 2105 for $1,213,680.90. Federal funds were secured for the construction of the project through the County Engineers Association of Ohio. $4,901,191.55 is funded with 100% Federal Funds.
