More than 220,000 new property value notices are in the mail and on their way to Montgomery County property owners. Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith put the notices in the mail on Monday, July 24.
Nearly every residential and commercial property owner has been sent a property value notice. Property owners should expect to receive their notice in the mail before the end of July. Keith said property owners who miss their notice in the mail should call his office to be notified of their new value.

The Montgomery County Auditor’s Office is not required by law to send notices of new property values to homeowners, but rather is doing so to increase transparency in the property valuation process, according to Keith.

“We send the value notices to keep residents informed. We hope this will increase their participation in our process,” Keith states. “Property owners who have questions or concerns should attend one of our informal review sessions.”

The Montgomery County Auditor’s Office invites the community to review and appeal their values at informal review sessions. In August and September, there will be 32 full-day informal review sessions at 15 locations throughout the county. Keith says he is striving to make his staff available to property owners “in their own backyards.” These sessions are open to the public and will allow property owners to meet one-on-one with an auditor’s office representative to discuss their new value.

“We will go above and beyond to educate property owners about their property values and to provide easy access to the appeal process,” Keith said.

Keith was one of the first county auditors in Ohio to hold informal review sessions and invite property owners to inspect the details of their valuations. Property owners are encouraged to view information about their property online at Tentative new values will be updated on the website later this week.

To schedule an informal review, property owners should call Keith’s “Property Owners Hotline” at 937-225-5096.
