George Perrine, finance director for the City of Miamisburg, was recognized with the “Jesse Haines Award” which honors his long and exemplary career as a government finance official. Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith presented him with the award at his Auditor’s Annual Update event at Sinclair Community College on December 14.
Keith established the award to acknowledge local government finance professionals who have served their organization and community with distinction and integrity.
Perrine is retiring in 2018, concluding his long career in public service. He has served as finance director with the City of Miamisburg for the past 30 years. According to Keith, Perrine has led the finance department with efficiency and integrity, stewarding the city through a number of major financial challenges. His accomplishments include the passage of a critical income tax levy in 2010 after the recession, the redevelopment of the former Mound Laboratory site and nearly a dozen awards from the Auditor of State for “clean” audits.
“George Perrine committed his career to serving the Miamisburg community with vision and integrity,” said Keith. “George is highly regarded for his work in Miamisburg and throughout Montgomery County.”
“Not only has our Finance Department operated with efficiency and integrity under George’s leadership, but he has personally helped steward the local government through numerous major economic challenges and initiatives in his career,” Miamisburg City Manager Keith Johnson said. “He has the confidence of our elected officials, and we’re very pleased that the Auditor’s Office found him to be worthy of this recognition.”
The award is named in honor of Jesse Haines, who served as Montgomery County Auditor for nearly 28 years. Aside from being the longest-serving auditor in Montgomery County history, Haines is also immortalized in the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He had a long career as a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, pitching on three World Series teams, before returning to Phillipsburg and becoming county auditor.
This award is presented annually to recognize a government finance official who has excelled in the performance of their duties.
