Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith and members of his real estate staff kicked off a series of Board of Revision workshops during a visit to the Germantown Library on Monday, March 9th.  Keith and his staff spoke with a number of local residents about the Board of Revision process and how the Auditor’s Office is making it more convenient to file a property value appeal.

Keith was joined by staff members Doug Trout, Real Estate Director, and Gen Murphy, Board of Revision Supervisor, who spent time presenting information on the Board of Revision, answered questions and assisted property owners interested in filing an appeal of their county property value.

“With the recent reappraisal last year, we want everyone to understand their options and to ask any questions they might have as the March 31st deadline approaches,” Keith said.  “These Board of Revision workshops are designed to explain the process and to explain how to properly file an appeal.”

The Board of Revision reviews appeals made by property owners who disagree with the value determined for their property. The Board consists of a representative from the County Commissioner’s Office, the Treasurer’s Office and the Auditor’s Office who will review the appeals and issue a decision.

“We want to make this process as easy as possible to understand and to file,” Keith said.  “This year, my office has created the website, which is devoted entirely to the Board of Revision.  In addition, we are offering property owners the option of filing appeals online from the convenience of their homes, or anywhere there is an internet connection.”

According to Keith, there have been more than 1,200 appeals so far this year but during the last reappraisal there were more than 7,000 Board of Revision filings.

The deadline to file a Board of Revision property value appeal is Tuesday, March 31st.  For more information or to request a form, please contact the Montgomery County Board of Revision at (937) 496-6856.  Applications may also be submitted online at by using the “File Online” link.
