Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith would like to remind county property owners that the deadline to turn in property value dispute forms to the Board of Revision is Monday, April 2nd. This is a change to the normal deadline of March 31st because in 2012 the traditional deadline falls on a Saturday.
“The appeal process is an opportunity for property owners to bring their value concerns to the Board of Revision,” said Keith, “Owners that are unhappy with the value placed on their property are encouraged to file an appeal.”
The Montgomery County Board of Revision has thus far received about 2,000 property value appeals which is a drop from the nearly 3,500 property value disputes received in 2011.
A representative from the County Commissioner’s Office, Treasurer’s Office and Auditor’s Office serve on the Board of Revision and review appeals from property owners who believe their property has been incorrectly assessed.
Appeal forms can be obtained on the Auditor’s website at www.mcrealestate.org or at the Auditor’s Office, located in the Montgomery County Administration Building, 451 W. Third St. Please contact the Board of Revision with questions about filing an appeal at 496-6856.
