Vicky Dempsey is the recipient of the prestigious Contributions Award from the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM). Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith announced Dempsey’s honor at the Montgomery County Commission meeting on Thursday, March 8th.
“Vicky’s leadership and knowledge on Weights and Measures is a valuable asset,” Keith said, “Her expertise enables our Weights and Measures program to keep pace with innovations in technology and market practices. It is always a proud moment when anyone from our staff is recognized for their contributions throughout the county, state and nation.”
The NCWM Contributions Award recognizes members that have made notable contributions to NCWM standards, policy, administrative support, or other services deemed worthy of recognition. Recipients must have been NCWM members for at least 5 years.
Dempsey served on the NCWM Laws and Regulations Committee in 2002 and remained there through 2008, chairing the committee twice. Her appointment to that commission in 2002 was the first time in thirty years Ohio had a representative on the Laws and Regulations Committee. Additionally, Dempsey served as Chief of the Central Weights and Measures Association (CWMA) in 2005 and as Secretary Treasurer for the CWMA since 2006.
Dempsey has been Montgomery County's Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures since 1993.
