Montgomery County recently earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) completed in 2011. It is the twenty-seventh year in a row that Montgomery County has attained this significant achievement.
Karl Keith, Montgomery County Auditor, was notified of the award on February 1st by Stephen Gauthier, GFOA Director of Technical Services.
“This marks the twenty-seventh consecutive year that Montgomery County has won this award and the tenth time since I have been County Auditor,” Keith said, “I am proud of the professionalism of my staff and the cooperation we receive from other county offices”.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting government. GFOA uses high standards and an impartial panel to judge qualifying CAFRs. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, DC.
