| The Montgomery County Budget Commission approved the allocation of over $30 million in local government funds for local jurisdictions for 2010 and over $17 million in local library government funds in the county.
For 2009, the Commission approved over $36 million from the local government fund and over $24 million from the local library government fund. Due to declining state revenue, the funds have dropped considerably. The local government fund is down 16% from last year and the local library fund is down 28.5%.
The allocations, approved on Monday, are from an estimation of funds to be distributed to the county from the state's Local Government Fund. The Budget Commission, consisting of Auditor Keith, County Prosecutor Mat Heck and County Treasurer Carolyn Rice, determines the annual allocations to local jurisdictions based upon a formula approved by the jurisdictions and the Commission.
Montgomery County was granted the largest allocation at over $12.8 million for 2010. The city of Dayton received over $10.6 million, leading all municipalities. Dayton Metro Library is to receive an estimated $13.9 million from the local library government fund, a 28.5% decrease from last year.
Of the $30.6 million allocated from the local government fund, $15.7 million goes toward municipal jurisdictions in Montgomery County. Townships comprised about $1.3 million of that total, with local parks receiving over $473K. Local libraries were allocated $17.5 million from the local library government fund, a 28.5% cut from 2009.
