Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith commended Jack's Aquarium as the recipients of the 2009 Excellence in Scanning Award.  Keith presented Jack's Aquarium managers with awards March 6th at Jack's Aquarium Dayton location.  All four Jack's Aquarium retailers in Montgomery County received perfect scores on scanning tests conducted by weights and measures inspectors in 2008. 

The Auditor presents the Excellence in Scanning Award each year in March, as part of National Weights and Measures Week, to an establishment that has demonstrated a commitment to pricing accuracy.  The Auditor selects the recipient based upon test results and recommendations from inspectors.

Auditor Keith praised Jack's Aquarium commitment to a fair market place, "Today, we salute Jack's Aquarium for going above and beyond to ensure their pricing is accurate," he said.  "Fair and accurate pricing results in a better environment for both consumers and retailers."

Jack's Aquarium is a local pet supplier, a family business that grew out of Jack Brenner's residence in East Dayton.  Founded 58 years ago, the business has grown to 27 stores in Southwest Ohio with locations in Dayton, Englewood, Huber Heights and Miamisburg.

In 2009, weights and measures inspectors conducted scanning tests at over 530 businesses in Montgomery County, scanning over 36,000 items.  Perfect scores were attained by 251 of the businesses tested during their first inspection.
