Advance Auto Parts Wins 2013 Excellence in Scanning Award

Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith named Advance Auto Parts as the winner of the 2013 Excellence in Scanning Award in celebration of National Weights and Measures Week.  Keith presented the award to Advance Auto Parts representatives from their nine county stores on Thursday, March 7th at the company’s Riverside store located on Woodman Drive.

During the award presentation, Keith praised Advance Auto Parts for its dedication to promoting a high standard of accuracy.  “Accurate and fair pricing is important to both consumers as well as retailers,” Keith said.  “We thank Advance Auto Parts for going above and beyond to guarantee true prices which in turn build confidence in everyday marketplace transactions.”

Advance Auto Parts has been a leader in the automotive aftermarket industry for almost 80 years with over 3,500 stores nationwide in addition to their locations in Dayton, Kettering, Huber Heights, Miamisburg, and Englewood.  Keith stated that all nine locations passed price verification tests conducted by Weights and Measures inspectors this past year. These tests included price verification on products such as motor oil, spark plugs, air filters, and windshield wipers.

Keith presents the Excellence in Scanning Award every March as part of National Weights and Measures Week to an establishment that has demonstrated a commitment to accurate pricing. In the past year, Montgomery County Weights and Measures staff conducted scanning tests nearly at 500 retailers while verifying prices on more than 30,000 items.

The Auditor’s Office employs three full-time inspectors who also tested and certified almost 2,000 scales and over 5,000 gas pumps in 2012.
